The dagger is a two-hit melee weapon that moves Celine around like an oiled baby on Teflon. The game will keep track of your ongoing quests (this includes the spell ability quests) in your quest log. Naturally, to start your story quests, go to sleep near an idol and see what's there. If you somehow missed completing a quest and beat the game by accident, you can still complete the quests (where you left off) by visiting the Dreamworld and talking to various characters to see where you left off. Each of the spells (except Darkmist) is capable of impressive damage on normal (read, "useless") and are somewhat helpful on Hard, since some enemies are immune to specific elemental damage (example, Lightning Knights are immune to Thor's Hammer Fire Knights are immune to Meteor). Characters who complete the quests and then beat the stage 6 boss will learn one of the five following spells: DarkMist, Vine, Meteor, Thor's Hammer, or Blizzard. The problem is that the caster cannot move during that time. While they are not potent attack spells, Null is valued as vital support spell during co-operative play since it removes enemy resistances (even on Hard or Extreme). If a character clears the game without completing the quests, he/she will learn the abilities Null or Bless (randomly). Each character has his/her story quest that ideally should be completed before defeating the boss in stage 6 (hence finishing the game).
